Every day across the western half of North Dakota 100 million cubic feet of natural gas is deliberately burned by oil companies rushing to extract oil from the Bakken shale field and take advantage of the high price of crude. The gas bubbles up alongside the oil, and with less economic incentive to capture it, the drillers treat the gas as waste and simply burn it. Isn’t that just terrific? Yet another demonstration of not only American ingenuity in finding solutions to difficult situations, but of  Republican’s fiscal conservative’s philosophy that the market will automatically solve all of our problems.

Of course they do.

It’s very important that they a) find somebody else to blame and b) make sure that “somebody else” is the Democrats so they can help return people to office who don’t give a flying you-know-what what people do as long as they’re making huge profits and feeding MFA’s lust for oil.

Like they don’t have any money in the bank or something.

Haven’t the oil companies made record profits every year since the year we were paying $4 a gallon for gas? Maybe BP can take up a collection.
